These HSS tools will last up to six times longer than carbon steel, which means they can be sharpened to a finer edge and keep that edge longer. SIZES: 10 mm thick (3/8") and 8mm thick(5/16")

USES: A. Blending the parallel side wall and the curved bottom of vessels and boxes together. B. Ideal for deep hollowing and making final cuts inside bowls C. Works great for undercutting the rim of small bowls.

3/8" is respectable for a negative rake scraper. Thinner ones have a tendency to chatter if you are hanging out over the tool rest a little far.
